1hr to go – a quick update on the Localism Bill

December 13, 2010

We’ve been running a  *LIVE* blog throughout today scooping up opinion from a representative mix of the most prominent tweeting councillors, journalists and analysts (and Eric Pickles) from around England and Wales. So far it’s gone really well – we’ve had lots of hits, comments and queries for more information – all of which clearly demonstrates that people are switched on to what’s happening in councils.

The bill is due at 3.30 and with #localism trending since 11.30(ish) it looks like a lot of eyes will be on Pickles when he stands at the dispatch box. As soon as we see the bill LGIU will  be tweeting out line-by-line analysis.

The councillors on the stream so far are –

Cllr Phil North – Conservative – Test Valley – @ThePhilNorth

Cllr Simon Cooke – Conservative – Bradford – @SimonMagus

Cllr James Cousins – Conservative – Wandsworth – @jamescousins

Cllr Richard Lowe – Conservative – Chester – @RichardLoweUK

Cllr Tim Cheetham- Labour – Barnsley – @CllrTim

Cllr Antonia Bance – Labour – Oxford – @antoniabance

Cllr Daisy Benson – Reading – Liberal Democrats – @CllrDaisyBenson

Cllr Sara Bedford – Three Rivers – Liberal Democrats – @sarabedford

Also tweeting in will be LGIU’s Andy Sawford (Chief Exec) and Jonathan Carr-West (Director), TweetyHall, Allister Hayman (Chief Reporter, LGC), Dan Drillsma-Milgon (News & Political Editor, LGC), Ingrid Koehler (Improvement Strategist, LGID), Dominic Campbell (FutureGov), Blogminster, Angus Walker (Panning Act Blog) and Alex Jones (Centre for Cities), Toby Blume (Urban Forum), Anthony Zacharzewski (Demsoc) and Anna Turley (New Local Government Network).

If you would like your twitter account adding to the stream please email rob.dale@lgiu.org.uk or call LGIU on 020 7554 2839
